About Co-developing Decision Support System for Coastal Mangrove-based Socio-Ecological Systems in Eastern and Western Africa (CoastMan)

Coastal mangroves provide critical services to coastal communities, including protection against climate change risks. These communities are particularly vulnerable due to their location, socio-economic conditions, and reliance on mangrove ecosystems. The CoastMan project aims to create a decision support system (DSS) that helps restore and conserve these ecosystems. The project involves dynamic mapping of mangrove habitat loss risks, supporting local resilience, designing sustainable livelihood strategies, and developing the DSS. Ultimately, this effort will enhance the adaptive capacities of vulnerable coastal communities and promote climate action for mangrove restoration and conservation.
